MAY 2021

While in person events are still partially "on pause"...

Since the beginning of the pandemic, virtual job fairs have become quite fashionable. RDÉE TNL is working hard to allow as many Francophone candidates as possible to find a job in our province and for employers to fill their labour needs using these platforms.

There is a process behind these events to ensure their success:

First, we contact employers to convince them to let us post their job opportunities. Then, we set up a virtual booth that represents us well despite our physical absence, we publish the job offers on the event's website and, during the fair, we answer questions by chat, we verify the English proficiency of job seekers, and we select the best resumes to put these candidates in contact with employers.

The added value of virtual job fairs for candidates is the possibility to discuss a position with an audience that is not generally accessible, i.e. employers, and to acquire information quickly and apply directly. For employers, it is the easy access to a pool of prescreened candidates.

Furthermore, it is an opportunity to have access to free conferences on a single platform while being in the comfort and security of one's home, which is a clear advantage during a pandemic.

RDÉE Canada's Virtual Job Fair

RDÉE Canada and its members' Virtual Job Fair (VJF) took place on February 10th. The VJF is an interactive platform that allows meetings between job seekers who have the right to work in Canada (permanent residents, temporary permits, student permits, etc.) and businesses in NL and across Canada. More than 4000 candidates participated in this year's event.

Results:

-83 job offers

-103 candidates

-69 of them applied to our offers

Here are the statistics for the whole country (in French only):

The VJF will take place twice a year starting in 2022.

West Coast Mission

From April 21 to the 16, our Executive Director and Economic Immigration Officer travelled from St. John's to the West Coast to meet with economic development stakeholders in Corner Brook and Stephenville to present our projects and to explore the possibility of future collaborations.

Throughout the week, they met face-to-face with over 20 representatives from organizations such as: Go Western, the Community Education Network, the Greater Corner Brook Board of Trade, Spicer Facilitation and Learning, CDBC, the Stephenville Cultural Destination Committee, the mayor of Stephenville, the Stephenville Historical French Cultural Association, the Acadian Hotel, the Association for New Canadians, and Le Coin Franco.

These meetings allowed us to highlight our actions in the region, such as the construction of the cell tower, and to reconnect with organizations we already knew and to discover new ones.
